Learn to Sushi (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website learntosushi.com and provides interactive sushi-making classes and private Sushi River events. We are an experience company: a chef comes to the host's home or office in the greater Salt Lake City area. We offer an Interactive Class (minimum 8 guests) or a Sushi River event. We are not a restaurant and we do not sell takeout or kits.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you visit our website, interact with our chatbot, book an event or class, or communicate with us via text/SMS.
By using our Services, you consent to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.
Information We Collect

Personal information you provide
- Contact details: Name, phone number, email address, physical address.
- Booking and event details: Number of people, date, time of arrival, food start time, allergies, soy sauce preferences, dietary restrictions, and any other preferences you share.
- Payment information: Processed securely by third-party providers; we do not store full card details.
- Communications: Messages you send to our Grok-powered chatbot (on the website or via SMS), inquiries, feedback, or support requests.
Automatically collected information
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, and interaction with our website or chatbot.
- Cookies and similar technologies: For analytics and improving user experience (you can manage these via your browser settings).
SMS / text messaging information
When you provide your phone number on our booking form or during an inquiry, we collect it to reach you about that booking. If you separately opt in to SMS, we may also send confirmations, reminders, menu proposals, event details, and replies to your questions about sushi rolls, the Sushi River, or classes. Booking SMS is optional and is not required to book.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Process and confirm bookings for Sushi River events and interactive sushi classes.
- Create and send custom menu proposals (including river positions 1–5, rolls like Sensei Roll, Vegas Roll, Spicy Tuna, etc., and alternate entrées).
- Respond to your questions via our AI chatbot (powered by xAI Grok) or SMS.
- Coordinate a chef visit to the host's home or office in the greater Salt Lake City area, including arrival time, guest count, allergies, and event details.
- Send optional booking and event texts only if you check the SMS consent box. These are not marketing blasts.
- Process payments through secure third-party providers and send email confirmations.
- Improve our website, booking flow, and customer support, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your mobile number to send restaurant promotions, takeout offers, or unrelated marketing. Learn to Sushi is an experience company, not a restaurant.
SMS / Text Messaging
If you opt in on our booking form, Learn to Sushi may text you at the number you provide. These messages are booking and event updates only—not marketing blasts. Texts relate to your Interactive Class (minimum 8 guests) or Sushi River inquiry or event. We are not a restaurant.
- We do not sell or share mobile numbers with third parties or affiliates for marketing.
- Message frequency varies (typically 1–8 per event or inquiry).
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help.
- Booking SMS is optional and is not required to book. You can complete a booking with the checkbox left unchecked.

How We Share Information
We share personal information only as needed to run the Services:

- Chefs and operations: Event details needed to staff and run your class or Sushi River at the host location.

We do not sell personal information. We do not sell or share mobile numbers with third parties or affiliates for marketing.

How Long We Keep Information
We keep booking, contact, and communication records as long as needed to fulfill your event, answer follow-up questions, meet legal and accounting requirements, and resolve disputes. We then delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed.
